Fall Fun Around Charlotte: Three Local Outings for Your October Calendar

Fall has arrived in the Charlotte area, and we're leaning into pumpkin patches, crisp evenings, community festivals and time together. If you're looking for a reason to get outside, these three outings from our October newsletter are a good place to start.

Pick a pumpkin at Hodges Family Farm

A pumpkin patch visit is a fall favorite for a reason. At Hodges Family Farm in Charlotte, you can pick a pumpkin, meet barnyard animals, climb hay bales and take a few seasonal photos along the way.

Our October newsletter lists the pumpkin patch as open daily through October 31, from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Admission is free, with weekend parking and hayrides available for a small fee.

Find your way through Rural Hill's corn maze

For a different kind of fall outing, head to Historic Rural Hill in Huntersville. The corn maze gives everyone a shared challenge, with pumpkins, hayrides, Highland cows, live music and open fall scenery rounding out the visit.

The newsletter lists daytime maze hours Friday through Sunday, through October 31. Check the organizer's current calendar before planning your trip.

Spend a day at the Carolina Renaissance Festival

Step into the village of Fairhaven in Huntersville for jousting, live entertainment, artisan demonstrations, shopping and festival food. It's another way to make a weekend feel a little different.

Our October newsletter lists the festival on Saturdays and Sundays through November 22, from 9:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m.

Before you head out

Dates, hours, admission and activities can change. Check each organizer's page before you go, especially if you're planning around a particular activity.
